Coming Home Poppy Lapel Pin

This pin commemorates the return of British and Allied soldiers following the end of the Second World War. What makes it extraordinary is that in includes fragments of authentic material from the RMS Queen Mary’s original propellor. The RMS Queen Mary carried over 800,000 troops across the world’s oceans during the war, and returned many allies troops home in ‘Operation Magic Carpet’. She also carried Sir Winston Churchill across the Atlantic three times for meetings with Allied forces officials, and he signed the D-Day Declaration on board.

This pin is a physical link to a moment of victory, reunion, relief and remembrance, honouring the resilience of all those who sailed in her, who served, and to the homecoming journeys that brought them back to their loved ones.
