The Story
In the spring of 1915, whilst stationed in Ypres, a Canadian doctor, Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae wrote his now famous poem, In Flanders Fields, shortly after losing a friend there. The sight of the poppies growing in the battle-scarred fields inspired him and because of this, the poppy will forever be a symbol of Remembrance and hope. It is also now seen as a symbol of hope for a positive future, and a peaceful world. They have become a show of support for the Armed Forces community, those currently serving, ex-serving personnel and their families, and a symbol of Remembrance for all those who have fallen in conflict.
This brooch features two vivid red translucent enamel petals with a finely radiating texture that catches the light beautifully. A glossy black centre adds striking contrast, while the elegant silver-tone outline and gently curved stem gives the pieces a refined, sculptural finish.
All profits from your purchase will go towards the Royal British Legion's work in supporting the Armed Forces community.
